Dubai

Dubai is an international city and a great place to stay, with a reputation for excellent hotels and extremely high standards. Dubai combines ancient and palatial style architecture with ultra-modern towers, the modern often echoing the old by using traditional Arabian motifs. Dubai is duty-free which makes it an excellent place to shop, with the choice of the new shopping malls or the fascinating souks, most famous for gold but note that there are also textile, perfume and spice souks in the narrow passageways of this fascinating city. Take an abra (water taxi) across the creek, the water that not only divides the city but is home to a long history of trade. It is a unique and easy way to make the crossing and a great place to appreciate the history of the city’s teak trading and pearl-diving. There are soft golden beaches on the Jumeriah coastline and water-sports to be found in the Persian Gulf and golf is catered for at the Dubai Creek Golf Club.
